ENT Surgeon Participates in Mission Trip to Peru

07/01/2019 – Pediatric ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon Dr. Brian Ho recently participated in a mission trip to Cusco, Peru. The trip was organized by Support Our Smiles, a nonprofit comprised of medical professionals who volunteer their time to deliver comprehensive ENT care to underserved children around the world. Dr. Ho, in collaboration with colleagues from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, evaluated more than 100 children, performed more than 20 surgeries, visited a school for hearing-impaired children and conducted approximately 50 hearing tests. Dr. Ho looks forward to returning to Cusco for another mission trip this September.

First Aid for an Infant Choking

10/4/2019 – Do you know what to do if an infant (0 – 12 months) is choking? This video by Linda Nylander-Housholder, APRN. will demonstrate how to identify signs of choking and how to help an infant who is choking. Performing first aid for choking and CPR can keep him/her alive until Emergency Medical Services (911) arrives. This Nicklaus Children’s Hospital video follows current CPR guidelines from the American Heart Association.

Nicklaus Children's Dental Mobile Unit

The 40-foot mobile unit is Nicklaus Children’s Hospital’s latest endeavor to assist families in need as part of its vision “to be where the children are” in South Florida and beyond. In addition to screenings and exams, services can include varnish treatments, dental sealants, oral and health hygiene education as well as referrals for follow-up oral treatment, to underserved families of children who do not have dental insurance.

CPR Class

Community course designed to teach first aid basics. This course in pediatric CPR teaches parents, grandparents and caregivers how to administer CPR to infants and children.
