Anterior Knee Pain

What is anterior knee pain?
Anterior knee pain is the medical term for pain that occurs at the front of the knee (as opposed to posterior knee pain). It can range from mildly irritating to debilitating in severity.
What causes anterior knee pain?
Anterior knee pain is caused by the kneecap rubbing against the thigh bone. This situation can occur due to an injury, repetitive motion, flat feet or weakness of the legs or knees.
What are the symptoms of anterior knee pain?
Along with pain, limited mobility of the knee may also be present with anterior knee pain.
What are anterior knee pain care options?
Rest, weight loss, changes in activities, stretching, exercises, special shoes, braces and knee tape are all possible treatments for anterior knee pain. In severe cases, surgery to repair the knee might be an option.
