Eating disorders and bipolar disorder in adolescents and children are among the topics to be discussed this weekend at Miami Children’s Hospital’s (MCH) 42nd Annual “Perspectives in Pediatrics” Pediatric Postgraduate Course, March 16 through March 22, 2007 at the InterContinental Miami Hotel. Approximately 1,000 pediatricians from the around the world will gather to hear leaders in pediatrics, such as Lawrence D. Rosen, MD, Founding Member, American Academy of Pediatrics.
“Perspectives in Pediatrics is the nation’s longest-running independent continuing medical education program,” said Christian C. Patrick, MD, PhD, Program Chair and MCH Chief Medical Officer/Senior Vice President for Medical and Academic Affairs. “This year’s forum will include lectures from guest faculty assembled from throughout the United States and abroad as well as host faculty from Miami Children’s Hospital.”

Monday, March 19 –
George H. McCracken Jr., MD, Professor of Pediatrics and of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, will talk about “Impact of the Pneumecoccal Vaccine on Invasive Disease at a Large Children’s Hospital.”
Tuesday, March 20 –
Barry S. Zuckerman, MD, Professor of Pediatrics, Boston University School of Medicine, will present “Language Development as a Precursor of Learning.”
Wednesday, March 21 –
Lawrence D. Rosen, MD, Founding Member, American Academy of Pediatrics, Section on Complementary, Holistic and Integrative Medicine, will discuss “Clinical Research and Evidence-Based Applications of Integrative Medicine in Pediatrics.”
Thursday, March 22 –
Francis E. Ruston, Jr., MD, Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of South Carolina, will talk about “Screening for Healthy Development.”
Serge Morax, MD, Chief of Department of Ophthalmologic Plastic Surgery, Paris, France, will present “Reconstructive Management of Orbital Malformations.”
