MIAMI - Miami Children’s Hospital (MCH) has appointed the following to director positions:
Roumiana Katzarkov, Director of Medical Library
Roumiana Katzarkov has been appointed Director of Medical Library. Prior to joining MCH, Ms. Katzarkov served as Health Sciences and Science Librarian at the University of California, Irvine. She received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in history and archives from Moscow State Historical and Archival Institute in Moscow, Russia and a master’s degree in library and information science from Drexel University in Philadelphia. She also completed the certificate program in marketing from University of California, Irvine. Ms. Katzarkov resides in Coral Gables.
Sharon Larson, Director of Risk Management
Sharon Larson has been appointed Director of Risk Management. Ms. Larson comes to MCH from the North Broward Hospital District where she worked in risk management for nearly 10 years, most recently as Chief Patient Safety Officer for Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale. Ms. Larson earned a nursing degree at Fairview Deaconess School of Nursing in Minnesota and a bachelor’s degree in health services administration at Florida Atlantic University. Ms. Larson is currently pursuing a master’s degree in business administration at Nova Southeastern University. Ms. Larson resides in Fort Lauderdale.
Melanie Nathanson, Director Strategic Business Planning
Melanie Nathanson has been appointed Director of Strategic Business Planning. She is responsible for developing the hospital’s strategic plans and new business initiatives to enhance the hospital’s mission. Ms. Nathanson comes to MCH from Washington, DC, where she held leadership roles in the congressional offices of Senator Bob Graham and Representative Sander Levin. Most recently she served as Senior Health Policy Analyst for the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a not-for-profit, non-partisan think tank in Washington, D.C. Ms. Nathanson received her bachelor’s degree from Tulane University and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Miami. Ms. Nathanson resides in Coral Gables.
