Miami Children’s Hospital’s Health on Wheels mobile health unit is providing care for children and teens in need of medical treatment following the recent hurricanes in Palm Beach County. The unit is stationed at the Pahokee Recreational Sports Ground Facility which is now “tent city” for the unfortunate people left homeless by hurricanes Jeanne and Frances. MCH doctors are offering general pediatric care, including treatment for cuts and abrasions, dehydration, viruses, dermatological conditions and heat exhaustion. The unit is providing help to more than 80 children and adults.
Doctors and staff from Miami Children’s are actively collaborating with the Palm Beach Health Department to provide this service.
