October 19, 2021 – Nicklaus Children's Health System has received  an A+ bond rating from Fitch Ratings and an A rating from Standard and Poor’s. The health system was also recognized by the agencies as having a positive and stable outlook for the future.
 

Nicklaus Children's Hospital Biobank Celebrates 500th Enrollment Milestone

October 14, 2021 – The Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Biobank this summer enrolled its 500th participant, a significant milestone for the biorepository, founded in 2019 to address imbalances in genomic research, with the goal of enhancing individualized care for children in South Florida and beyond. The Biobank is part of the hospital’s Personalized Medicine Initiative, committed to harnessing the latest developments in genomic science.

October 08, 2021 – The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) is pleased to announce that Nicklaus Children’s Hospital has earned 2021 CHIME Digital Health Most Wired recognition as a certified acute level 7 hospital. Dr. Jordan P. Steinberg Joins Nicklaus Children's Hospital as Surgical Director of the Craniofacial Program

October 01, 2021 – Dr. Jordan P. Steinberg, pediatric plastic, craniomaxillofacial and orthognathic surgeon, has been appointed surgical director of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital’s Craniofacial Center, where he will oversee the surgical management of children with craniofacial anomalies.

 

South Florida Healthcare Entrepreneur Donates Helicopter to Nicklaus Children's Hospital

September 28, 2021 – Nicklaus Children’s Hospital has a new addition to its critical care transport fleet, thanks to the generosity of Miguel “Mike” B. Fernandez, a Coral Gables-based healthcare entrepreneur and chairman of MBF Healthcare Partners, LP.  Fernandez donated his personal helicopter to the hospital this week to help support the care of children from the region and beyond.

 

YMCA of South Florida and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Collaborate to Advance Water Safety and Drowning Prevention

$1 Million Gift Supports State-of-the-Art Surgical Technology

A generous $1 million donation is supporting a new, state-of-the-art piece of medical equipment for cardiac patients at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. The technology was possible because of the generosity of South Florida residents Howard and Debbie Belford, whose granddaughter had once received live-saving surgery at the hospital.

New Leading-Edge Treatment for Leukemia Now Offered at Nicklaus Children's Hospital

June 10, 2021 – Nicklaus Children's Hospital is one of the only hospitals in Florida, and the first pediatric hospital in South Florida, to offer the latest immune cell treatment for children and adolescents with certain types of leukemia. The Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Nicklaus Children's Hospital is authorized to deliver the FDA-approved CAR T-cell therapy to the pediatric population.

From the Operating Room to the Classroom; Healthcare Technology on Display for College Students

June 03, 2021 – During a two-day demonstration held in April at the University of Florida, anatomy students were able to observe and dissect 3D printed organs, including 40 heart models donated by Stratasys, maker of the J750 Digital Anatomy ™ Printer. The students also had the opportunity to see and learn about the structures of the heart up close with the ApoQlar HoloLens2 mixed-reality glasses.

Nicklaus Children's Innovates with Latest Immersive Technology to Support Planning of Congenital Heart Procedures and Medical Education

April 08, 2021 – Nicklaus Children’s Hospital is taking a lead globally in using the latest immersive technology to advance surgical care planning, and patient education. The hospital’s Cardiovascular Surgery Advanced Projects Laboratory (APL) is now using emerging mixed reality technology to support planning of complex congenital heart procedures and help patient families visualize how the surgical team will conduct repairs. The technology is also being used to support clinical classroom learning in association with medical education partners.

Nicklaus Children's and Kohl's Partner to Provide Food Assistance During Pandemic

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and Kohl’s Cares are providing food assistance to patient families during the pandemic with a new pilot program that helps eligible families buy healthy groceries. So far, nearly 200 patient families have received assistance since the Nicklaus Children’s GiveMe5 Food Pantry initiative began in January of this year.
