Kaposiform hemangioendothelioma is a rare, rapidly growing mass of blood vessels that may be present at birth or develop during infancy.
A Kaposiform hemangioendothelioma appears as a poorly defined mass of blood vessels, blue to purple in color. Kaposiform hemangioendotheliomas commonly develop on the trunk of the body and are highly associated with Kasabach-Merritt syndrome.
Patients with kaposiform hemangioendothelioma should be monitored for issues or disorders in clotting as it often affects the amount of platelets in the body.
