Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist
Dr. Patel is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists, the physician-led multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. She is a pediatric cardiac intensivist within The Heart Institute’s Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Dr. Patel earned her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine/Georgia Campus in Suwanee, Georgia. She then completed a residency in pediatrics at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Patel then pursued a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in the Bronx, New York, followed by a fellowship in pediatric cardiac critical care at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Her clinical interests include early extubation post-cardiac surgery, quality improvement, as well as safety and efficiency in transfer of patient care.
Dr. Patel is board certified in both general pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine. She is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Osteopathic Physicians and the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society. Dr. Patel’s work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and she has presented at medical conferences. She has also volunteered her time to provide medical and educational services to children and teens both nationally and abroad.
Dr. Patel sees patients at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. She is fluent in English, Gujarati and Hindi, as well as conversant in Spanish.
