Pediatric Urology Program

The Nicklaus Children's Hospital, formerly Miami Children's Hospital, Division of Urology and Urologic Surgery provides consultation and surgery to pediatric and adolescent patients with disorders of the genital tract and urinary system. Our team of Pediatric Urologists treat children with urological conditions such as circumcisions, anomalies of the kidney (including antenatal hydronephrosis), vesicoureteral reflux, obstructions of the urinary tract, anomalies of the penis and urethra (eg: hypospadias), disorders and anomalies of the testes, enuresis and anomalies of the bladder, and kidney cancer. There are a variety of disorders that affect the structure and function of a child's genitourinary tract, ranging from congenital (present at birth) structural abnormalities to acquired problems such as urinary tract infections.
Nicklaus Children's Division of Urology and Urologic Surgery, established in 1998, has become a reference center for Latin America and the Caribbean for complex reconstructive conditions.
Working closely with the pediatric Urology Program, the Nicklaus Children's Hospital Center for Enuresis and Urinary Disorders offers a comprehensive approach for the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of dysfunctional urinary disorders including primary and nocturnal enuresis (bed wetting), diurnal enuresis, vesicoureteral reflux, and urinary tract infections. Children's urology tests include urine studies, blood analyses, radiological imaging, and urodynamics (eg: measuring the bladder capacity and quantifying the flow of urine).
