In the 22nd Annual Pediatric Nursing Conference in Dallas, Miami Children’s Hospital (MCH) was selected to participate in the clinical innovations poster competition. Only 10 entries were selected from scores of national and international medical institutions to take part and MCH was given three spots.
MCH entries include:
- Second place winner, Sofia Morales, MSN, ARNP for “Italian Connection: Nursing Care Across Cultures”
- “Blended Learning: A Recipe for Exceptional Critical Thinking Skills” by Ingrid Gonzalez, MSN, RN, CPN, from Congenital Heart Institute and Carla Trueba, MSN, RN, CPN, representing the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
- “Delayed Dressing Changes in Small Partial Thickness Burns” by Jeannette Diana, MSN, ARNP, of Pediatric Surgery.
Founded in 1950, Miami Children's Hospital is the only licensed specialty hospital for children in South Florida. Designated a Magnet facility - the nursing profession's highest national honor - from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, MCH offers medical care and services for children from birth to age 21. MCH is the first free-standing pediatric facility in both Florida and the Southeast to achieve Magnet designation. Nationwide, it is only the fifth pediatric hospital to receive this certification.
