Preventive Testing

Our program is also nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best pediatric gastroenterology programs.

Preventive Gastroenterology Tests Offered:

Endoscopy (lower and upper): A procedure done when the patient persists with symptoms and has no improvement.

Helicobacter Pylori Screening: We test for titers in serum and stain biopsies for bacteria. Early diagnosis can prevent gastric ulcers as well as gastric cancer.

Cholesterol Screening: This screening allows us to detect children who are at high risk for heart disease, test them, and with the help of our nutritionist fashion an appropriate diet plan for them.

Body Fat Composition Test: This test is useful in determining the amount of body fat in relation to a child's height and weight.

Lactose Intolerance Test: Used to determine if a child is intolerant to milk or other products containing lactose. Early detection can prevent unnecessary discomforts and can be treated with adequate diet.

pH Probe Study (with or without polysomnogram): Used to detect the presence of gastroesophageal reflux.
