Local Jews recently got screened for 19 Jewish genetic diseases.The Victor Center for the Prevention of Jewish Genetic Diseases at Miami Children's Hospital provided these screenings as well as educational sessions at both Temple Beth Sholom in Miami Beach and Kspace in Aventura. Deborah Wasserman, genetic counselor and outreach coordinator for the Victor Center Miami, said approximately 10 people got screened at Temple Beth Sholom and approximately 12 at Kspace. Approximately 30 people at Kspace listened to the lecture.
