Join us for our C.H.A.T. Resources program. This series of programs are designed for parents, professionals and the community.
When you discover that your child is going to be born with a limb difference, it is common to have some questions.
- Will my child face physical challenges?
- What kind of resources are available for my child and family?
- Are there support groups and outlets to help my child?
These are just some of the questions that arise when families examine the process and future for their child. A Nicklaus Children’s Hospital physical therapist will discuss congenital limb difference, physical therapy intervention, resources and support groups.
Amanda Thomas, DPT, is a Doctor of Physical Therapy at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and parent of a congenital limb difference child. She will discuss what it means to be a treating physical therapist as well as a mother to a child who has a congenital limb difference. She studied at Florida International University where she obtained her doctorate and has been practicing for several years and continues to stay active in the congenital limb community.
