Caring for Matthew: Managing a Very Rare Disease

04/03/2025 – Matthew was diagnosed with Phelan-McDermid Syndrome (PMS), a rare genetic disorder that affects development, speech, and cognitive ability, and requires extensive medical care and round-the-clock support. Despite his challenges, Matthew radiates love and joy, and his family is advocating for increased awareness of PMS while seeking potential treatments for the condition.

New Nicklaus Children’s Imaging Technology a ‘Game Changer’ for Children with IBD

May 06, 2025 – Nicklaus Children’s Hospital is at the forefront of adoption of IUS to support the diagnosis and management of IBD. It is the only hospital in Florida and one of only four children’s hospitals nationwide to offer intestinal ultrasound (IUS) for pediatric IBD patients.
