About Nicklaus Children’s Hospital

Founded in 1950 by Variety Clubs International, Nicklaus Children's Hospital is South Florida's only licensed specialty hospital exclusively for children, with nearly 800 attending physicians and more than 475 pediatric subspecialists. The 309-bed hospital, known as Miami Children's Hospital from 1983 through 2014, is renowned for excellence in all aspects of pediatric medicine with many specialty programs routinely ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report since 2008. Children With Specialized Needs Spend Day On Miami Beach
Ventilator-dependent children and their families enjoyed a stress-free day at Miami Beach on Monday. They got buried in the sand, soaked up the sun and even got in the water. This is the day where they make the impossible, possible or at least the very difficult, easy. It’s all part of VACC Camp or Ventilated Assisted Children’s Center, a week-long stay in the area for children from around the country with special needs, specifically, those that require ventilators or mechanical assistance to breath.
