MIAMI, FL — The Miami Children's Hospital, its foundation, and its community partners officially opened the doors to the Overtown Kids (OK) Fitness, Involvement, Nutrition, Education (FINE) Program at the Overtown Youth Center (OYC), located at 450 NW 14th Street in Miami.
Miami Children's Hospital and its partners know that good health is an important factor in school performance. The OK FINE Program focuses on helping children develop healthy habits that include proper eating and physical exercise. The program also encourages academic achievement and building self-esteem. OK FINE helps identify children who are overweight or who are at risk of obesity. Following a health assessment, an MCH nurse practitioner and nutritionist tailor a health and nutritional program for the child.
The OK FINE Program is made possible through the generosity of The Florida Department of Education, The Ethel and W. George Kennedy Foundation, Peacock Foundation, Inc., Collins Center for Public Policy, Inc., Dade Community Foundation, The Estee Lauder Companies, PL Dodge Foundation, General Mills, and AT & T Foundation and Karen and Christopher Dudley.
