Gloria loves to dance. But her favorite activity became too difficult when she developed a large bump on her spine and it started to affect her mobility. Gloria was born with congenital kyphosis, a rare, genetic condition of the spine that restricts growth. As a teenager Gloria’s case became so severe and debilitating that she eventually needed support to walk.
At Nicklaus Children’s, a multidisciplinary team of doctors worked on a comprehensive treatment plan for Gloria. She underwent multiple, complex surgeries to correct some of the complications she experienced, offering her family both hope and healing.
“I thank Nicklaus Children’s Hospital every day for the care they provided to Gloria. I know I could not find that level of care in our home country of Haiti,” said Gloria’s mom, Marie, who brought her daughter to Miami for a better life in 2016.
Today, Gloria has her dancing shoes back on and is a social media sensation! Please support more kids and teens like Gloria with your donation today.
