Christina Llanez, Director of Nursing Professional Development at Nicklaus Children’s, has been selected as the American Nurses Credentialing Center Practice Transition Accreditation Program Director of the Year. This distinction was awarded this past May to one ANCC PTAP program director in the nation during the 2025 Transition to Practice Symposium in Phoenix, Arizona.
This award highlights the contribution of an ANCC PTAP-accredited Program Director who embodies a commitment to continuous quality improvement that positively impacts nursing practice and utilizes data to drive practice changes related to their transition to practice program.
“I am honored to be recognized by the ANCC and PTAP community who are dedicated to creating a national standard that drives excellence in nurse transition to practice programs,” says Christina Llanez, Director of Nursing Professional Development at Nicklaus Children’s. “I work alongside an outstanding team that is just as invested in our nurse residency program, and it is through their dedication we’re able to be a model of success.”
In December 2024, the Nicklaus Children’s Horizon Nurse Residency Program was awarded Accreditation with Distinction through the American Nurses Credentialing Center Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP)—the highest recognition in the field. This prestigious recognition is the highest level of accreditation awarded by the ANCC and is a testament to the quality and commitment of the program. This milestone marks the third reaccreditation for the Program, which was originally accredited with distinction in 2017 and re-accredited in 2020.
