MIAMI, FL. MCH Emergency Department physician Lou Ellen Romig, MD, has received the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) 2004 National Heroes Award for provider leadership.
The award honors Dr. Romig for her leadership in advancing the goals of the EMSC program – a national initiative designed to reduce child and youth disability and death associated with severe illness and injury.
“Dr. Romig has made a tremendous contribution to the well being of children through her service to the EMSC program. We are proud to have her as a member of the Emergency Department team,” said Richard Dellerson, MD, Administrative Director of Emergency Services at MCH.
The EMSC program strives to prevent illness and injury. When prevention fails, the program works to ensure that all states and communities have the resources necessary to deliver appropriate state-of-the-art emergency medical care to meet the needs of children and adolescents.
