"Thank you for your interest in the Pediatric Residency Program at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Our program is the largest pediatric residency program in Florida with 84 categorical pediatric residents and 2 chief residents. Despite our large size, we pride ourselves on being a close-knit family embodied by camaraderie and friendships that extend beyond your training days. Our clinical and educational opportunities provide residents with experiences in all aspects of pediatric care, giving them the comprehensive skills needed to develop into excellent pediatricians. Additionally, our residents have the unique opportunity to care for patients from all over the world, broadening their horizons as they embrace Miami’s cultural diversity. We would be honored to be a part of your journey!"
" From the moment I stepped foot in the hospital, I knew that Nicklaus Children’s was a special place. When I saw how many attendings returned to work here after training, or just never left since residency, it was clear to me that the medical community here truly is a family. Coming from the Northeast, I could not have asked for a more warm and welcome environment to be in during my years here. There is unbelievable support and camaraderie extending from attendings to fellows, through the residency, the nursing staff and…well, everyone! And to have beautiful Miami surrounding us always provides the chance to relax with all ranges of activities, all year-round. I am blessed to have been able to call Nicklaus and Miami my home for the past years, and to have the opportunity to continue be a part of the family as Chief. "
" Spending my entire life in the Northeast, my wife and I were looking for an adventure when we decided to couples match here in Miami, and we could not be happier with our decision. The unique atmosphere, people, and patients here in Miami have added to my growth as a person and pediatrician. I still remember my interview day at Nicklaus Children’s hospital, and I had such a strong gut feeling that this was the right place for me. The residents were all happy, full of life, and carried this aura of optimism which was what I was looking for in a residency program. My development as a pediatrician was facilitated to such a huge degree by the closeness of the relationships I have created with the attendings and staff at NCH. This truly does feel like one big family working together for the benefit of children in any way we can. "
" As a Miami native, I love that working at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital allows me to work with such a diverse community and such a wide profile of patients. I have gained a deeper understanding of how patients perceive health, and how to serve my patients not only as a doctor, but as an educator. Another thing I love about this program is the balance of autonomy and supervision that we receive as residents. As I have progressed through the program, from intern year through senior year, I have gained the autonomy to manage patients on my own while having security in knowing that attendings are accessible and ready to guide me when I need them. "
" Miami is the place I call home and I love this community. I attended the University of Florida where I received my bachelor and master´s degree in Biomedical Engineering, and then earned my medical degree from St. George´s University in Grenada. I rotated through Nicklaus Children’s Hospital as a fourth year medical student and was attracted to the hospital’s dedication to academic based medicine, family-centered rounds, and focus on child life care. During my time here, I have been an active member of the advocacy committee and was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to meet with the representatives from all over the state and speak about varying laws pertaining to child care. I am excited to stay on as chief resident and look forward to serve the community as a General Pediatrician. "
