Neurodevelopmental Disorders

Neurodevelopmental disorders encompass a diverse group of individuals with a variety of specific disorders such as attention deficit disorders (ADHD), developmental language disorders (DLD), learning disabilities (LD), epilepsy, pervasive developmental disorders/autistic spectrum disorders (PDD/ASD), Tourette syndrome, and other less specific conditions such as intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, and behavioral problems. The prevalence of some of these disorders is presented below:



Attention Deficit Disorder 3-5% of school age children
Developmental Language Disorders 3-5% of school age children
Learning Disabilities 5% of school age children
Epilepsy 1% of individuals
Pervasive Developmental Disorders 0.1% of individuals
Tourette Syndrome 0.5 per 1000 individuals
Intellectual Disabilities 1% of individuals
Cerebral Palsy 0.2% of school age children

Behavioral and Psychological Services

There are presently clinical and behavioral psychologists affiliated with the Dan Marino Center. These specialists have developed unique support groups, therapeutic recreational programs, as well as psychoeducational testing and psychological and behavioral therapeutic interventions.
