Dr. Saneya H. Tawfik is a child and adolescent psychologist, with a specialty in pediatric psychology. She serves as director of Assessment and associate director of Psychology Training within the Department of Psychology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. For more than 25 years, Dr. Tawfik has seen patients in South Florida, as well as taught and mentored psychology graduate students. She specializes in psychoeducational psychological assessments and treatment of children and adolescents with developmental delays and neurodevelopmental disorders, such as intellectual disabilities, specific learning disorders (e.g., dyslexia, dysgraphia), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), as well as socioemotional difficulties. 

Dr. Tawfik earned her doctorate in psychology from the Child Clinical Psychology Program at the University of Denver in Colorado. She then completed a predoctoral internship at Harvard Medical School - Boston Children’s Hospital/Judge Baker Children’s Center. Dr. Tawfik remained in Boston to pursue a postdoctoral fellowship in Pediatric Psychology and Behavioral Medicine at Harvard Medical School - Boston Children’s Hospital. She also completed a research appointment at Boston University’s School of Public Health and Behavioral Sciences.

Dr. Tawfik is a member of the American Psychological Association, Association of Psychology Training Clinics, Anxiety and Depression Association of America, National Latino(a) Psychological Association and the Hispanic Neuropsychological Society. She has presented at local, national, and international conferences, and her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals. Most recently, she has been involved in research on best practices in clinical training and supervision of assessments, as well as socially responsive ethics and professionalism among health services psychologists. Dr. Tawfik is an ad- hoc reviewer for journals on clinical training and assessment. She is fluent in English and Spanish and provides bilingual consultation, assessment, and therapy.

Dr. Tawfik is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the physician-led multispecialty medical group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System.
