Dr. Carmen Bustamante Escobar is a pediatric endocrinologist within the Division of Endocrinology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. She earned her medical degree from Universidad de Antioquia in Medellín, Colombia. Dr. Bustamante Escobar completed a residency in pediatrics at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami. She then pursued a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Her clinical interests encompass Turner syndrome, disorders of sex development (DSD) and pediatric thyroid conditions, including thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism.
 
Dr. Bustamante Escobar is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology. She is a member of the Pediatric Endocrine Society, Endocrine Society, American Thyroid Association and American Academy of Pediatrics. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and she has presented at medical conferences.
 
Dr. Bustamante Escobar is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the physician-led multispecialty medical group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.

The Division of Endocrinology at Nicklaus Children's Hospital offers a complete array of diagnostic, treatment, and consulting services for infants, children, and adolescents with endocrine disorders. The care team is dedicated to fulfilling the medical and support needs of children and their families through a multidisciplinary approach that has helped children from around the world. Consultations with the division’s board-certified endocrinologists are offered at the hospital’s main campus near Coral Gables, as well as at select Nicklaus Children’s outpatient centers located from southern Miami-Dade to Martin counties.
