Nicklaus Children’s Hospital hosts the largest pediatric residency program in Florida with 84 categorical pediatric residents and 2 chief residents. Despite our large size, we pride ourselves on being a close-knit family embodied by camaraderie and friendships that extend beyond your training days. Our clinical and educational opportunities provide residents and fellows with experiences in all aspects of pediatric and subspecialty care, giving them the comprehensive skills needed to develop into excellent clinicians. The Pediatric Neurocritical Care Fellowship at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital offers a comprehensive training experience with a busy clinical service, structured research experience and a thorough academic curriculum with the goal of developing specialty training in Pediatric Neurocritical Care for board certified/eligible Pediatric Intensivists or Pediatric Neurologists.
Nicklaus Children’s Hospital has a robust 10 bed dedicated Pediatric Neuro Intensive Care Unit that is supported by a team of Neurosurgeons and board certified Neurocritical Care Intensivists and Neurologist.

Curriculum
Program Goals
- To provide advanced training in the understanding, monitoring and management of neurologic and neurosurgical conditions affecting critically ill neonates and children.
- To provide education in neuroimaging and neuro monitoring in ICU setting as well as peri-procedural and perioperative settings.
- To provide research opportunities in the fields of neuroscience

Regularly scheduled activities
- Neurosurgical rounds in PICU/Floors: Daily during weekdays when no conflict with other schedule
- Neuro radiology rounds: weekly
- Epilepsy surgical conferences: weekly
- Neuro oncology conferences: Monthly
- PICU didactic conferences: Twice a week during NCH rotations
Didactics: The fellow will participate in all didactic conferences within this Division of Critical Care and may additionally attend conferences in the Division of Neurology/Neurosurgery/Neuroradiology, that pertain to material clinically related to critical care.
Accreditation:This is a non-ACGME accredited position. There is no board certification following the completion of this one-year fellowship.
