Dr. Keith Meyer holds a medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. He completed both his Pediatric Internship and Residency at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. He then went on to New York City and completed a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, New York Presbyterian Hospital. He also completed an elective fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at Sloan Memorial Cancer Center. He is board certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and Neurocritical care.

Dr. Meyer is the Medical Director of Nicklaus Children’s LifeFlight© Neonatal and Pediatric Transport Services and the Medical Director of the Extra Corporeal Life Support (ECLS/ECMO) and Apheresis Services (ECLS/ECMO). He also provides medical leadership in Neurological Intensive Care. He participates in various administrative leadership roles at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital including the Medical Executive Committee (MEC.) At the national level, he was elected to the American Academy of Pediatrics Executive Committee on Transport Medicine in 2009 and chairman of that committee since 2014. Additionally, he has provided leadership for the American Academy of Pediatrics: National Course on Neonatal and Pediatric Transport Medicine. He is also the editor of the American Academy of Pediatrics Guidelines for Air and Ground Transport of Pediatric Patients/Field Guide. In addition, he authored and edited two medical board preparation review books published by McGraw-Hill in both General Pediatrics (2004) and Internal Medicine (2008).

Dr. Meyer actively participates in clinical research and is the Nicklaus Children’s site principle investigator for several large prospective studies. His research and clinical interests and expertise include neonatal and pediatric specialty transport, neurological injuries, advanced airway protection and management, sepsis, systemic inflammatory response and shock. He has published extensively on some of these topics.

Dr. Meyer is a member of The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), Air Medical Physician Association (AMPA), Neurocritical Care Society (NCS), ExtraCorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) and Florida Emergency Medical Directors Association.
