Miami Children’s Health System (MCHS), through its partnership with Startupbootcamp, has entered into an agreement with Mediconecta, the leader in telehealth for the Spanish-speaking world.
Startupbootcamp, one of the world’s largest accelerators, and nonprofit Nicklaus Children's Hospital, part of Miami Children's Health System and the leading provider of children's healthcare services in South Florida, entered a partnership late in 2015 to incubate and scale the best digital health innovations across the globe.
After collectively reviewing hundreds of applications from over 40 countries, Startupbootcamp chose nine companies to participate in its program, many of which are actively working with Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. The agreement with Mediconecta marks the first collaboration to emerge from the partnership.
“The agreement with Mediconecta highlights the benefits of the Startupbootcamp partnership, which is aimed at nurturing innovation to advance the provision of healthcare,” said Dr. Narendra Kini, CEO of Miami Children’s Health System. “The Mediconecta agreement will support Miami Children’s telehealth outreach, enhancing benefits for the children and families we serve, both locally and throughout the nation and Latin America.”
“The MCHS/Mediconecta agreement represents the first of many collaborations that will come from our work with Dr. Kini and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. We are proud that the first comes from a Miami-based company working to improve the lives of Spanish-speakers everywhere. With more collaborations like this we are confident that Miami will soon become recognized globally as a hub for healthcare innovation," said Christian Seale, founder and managing director of Startupbootcamp in Miami.
“We are very excited about this collaboration. Working together with MCHS gives us a unique opportunity to enable healthcare access for our patients to one of the premier pediatric provider networks in the world. Telemedicine allows for better and more efficient medical care, in addition to delivering important data for the constant improvement of the complete healthcare ecosystem. We will work together to bring quality medical attention to every patient, right at the time of need - combining a solid network of renowned physicians and a top- notch telehealth platform,” said Daniel Silberman, CEO of Mediconecta.
Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and Mediconecta will initially work on:
- Telemedicine - offering virtual consultations through telehealth services remotely to patients, both in the United States and Latin America, using Mediconecta’s platform.
- Provider services - physicians and other provider services will be offered by selected specialists, physician extenders, nurse practitioners, counselors, educators, and other clinicians from MCHS.
- Technology - MCHS and Mediconecta intend to work on testing and validation of current and future state technologies for inclusion and integration with current products, markets, customers, and other areas of business.
- Data - Mediconecta and MCHS expect to share knowledge and processes related to tracking and measuring quality, access, and other metrics intended to improve the clinical standards for telemedicine consultations.
