For Nicklaus Children's Hospital, formerly Miami Children's Hospital, rheumatology patients, summer is the time for Camp Funrise, the first camp in Florida for patients with arthritis and related conditions. Camp Funrise is a free camp for children ages 8 to 12.
The camp aims to foster independence in a controlled environment for children who cannot attend a regular camp due to their special needs. Medical care is available for campers if needed. The week-long, sleep away camp provides both support and recreational activities like visits to Miami Seaquarium, swimming with dolphins, and nature activities.
Camp Funrise is sponsored by Nicklaus Children's Hospital, formerly Miami Children's Hospital, and the Florida Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation. For further information, please contact Iris Garcia at (305) 663-8505.
