Universal Screening for Type 1 Diabetes in the Primary Clinical Setting

The purpose of this research is to implement universal screening for Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) in pediatric care centers to identify children at risk of T1DM at the earliest possible stage, ideally before the onset of severe symptoms and complications. Early detection through universal screening will enable timely intervention and management to prevent acute complications (such as diabetic ketoacidosis) and reduce the risk of long-term health issues (e.g., cardiovascular disease, neuropathy, and retinopathy).
 

Inclusion Criteria

All children attending their well-child pediatric care clinic visits ages 2 through 15 years old regardless of family history or symptoms.

Exclusion Criteria

Children with previously diagnosed type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes.
