Patient Experience Volunteers

An initiative started in 2014 to focus on enhancing the patient and family experience while remaining cognitive of the importance of service scores. Volunteers primarily recruited from those interested in the healthcare industry and service industries. Volunteers are trained to identify families’ concerns, provide information about hospital initiatives and services, and gather data to identify areas of improvements. Collaboration with unit leadership to ensure continuity of a positive patient experience by conducting daily unit rounds focusing on unit specifics needs. Patient Experience Volunteers interested in applying for Horizon Nurse Residency Program are offered optional training focusing on organizational metrics.

The Patient Experience Volunteer Program selects candidates on a yearly basis. Applications are available at Volunteer Resources.
