Patricio Lau, MD

 

Dr. Patricio Lau is a pediatric surgeon in the Division of Pediatric and Thoracic Surgery at Nicklaus Children's Hospital.

Dr. Lau attended school at Herbert Werheim FIU College of Medicine and was part of its inaugural class. He then pursued training in general surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. During his post-doctoral research fellowship, he joined a transitional science laboratory at Texas Children's Hospital. During this time, he researched congenital diaphragmatic hernias, necrolitis and many other congenital anomalies. Dr. Lau presented his work at multiple national and international conferences that led to awards from the American Academy of Pediatris, American College of Surgeons and Canadian Association of Pediatric Surgeons.

After completing his surgical residency, Dr. Lau returned home to Miami and continued training in pediatric surgery at Nicklaus Children's Hospital where he gained experience in neonatal, thoracic, oncological and robotic pediatric surgery. He currently serves as Co-Director of Trauma Services at Nicklaus Children's Hospital's Miguel "Mike" B. Fernandez Family Pediatric Trauma Center.

Dr. Lau is bilingual in English and Spanish.
