Juan Sebastian Martin Saavedra, MD
Pediatric Neurologist
Dr. Juan Sebastian Martin Saavedra is a pediatric neurologist with the Department of Neurology, part of the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Neuroscience Institute. Dr. Martin earned his medical degree from Rosario University School of Medicine in Bogotá, Colombia, where he was class valedictorian and graduated with egregia cum laude honors. After graduation, he led a randomized clinical trial in music for primary dysmenorrhea as a junior research clinician with the Center for Clinical Research at Rosario University School of Medicine in Bogotá, Colombia.
Dr. Martin then completed a two-year post-doctoral research fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in Pennsylvania. During this time, he investigated neuroradiologic diagnostic markers of mitochondrial disorders, and fetal neuroradiologic prognostic markers of prenatally diagnosed neural tube defects.
Dr. Martin pursued his preliminary training in general pediatrics at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He concluded his child neurology training at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Dr. Martin’s clinical interests include general neurology,
ataxia, neurodevelopmental disorders, fetal neurology and
epilepsy. He is a member of the Child Neurology Society, American Academy of Neurology, Colombian Association of Child Neurology and Colombian Association of Neurology.
