Sissi Emperatriz Cossio, MD, FAAP
Pediatric Endocrinologist
Dr. Sissi Emperatriz Cossio is a board-certified pediatric endocrinologist within the Division of Endocrinology at Nicklaus Children’s. She earned her medical degree from Federico Villarreal National University School of Medicine in Lima, Peru. Dr. Cossio completed a residency in pediatrics at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida, followed by a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at the same institution. Her clinical interests include diabetes mellitus, growth disorders, thyroid disorders, obesity, and menstrual and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) disorders.
Dr. Cossio is board certified in general pediatrics, pediatric endocrinology and obesity medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Pediatric Endocrine Society, American Diabetes Association, Pediatric Endocrine Society, Obesity Medicine Association, and Obesity Society. Her research contributions include publications in peer-reviewed journals on topics such as metabolic syndrome and obesity in pediatric populations.
Dr. Cossio is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the multispecialty medical group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System.
The Division of Endocrinology at Nicklaus Children's Hospital offers a complete array of diagnostic, treatment and consulting services for infants, children and adolescents with endocrine disorders. The care team is dedicated to fulfilling the medical and support needs of children and their families through a multidisciplinary approach that has helped children from around the world. Consultations with the division’s board-certified endocrinologists are offered at the hospital’s main campus near Coral Gables, as well as at select Nicklaus Children’s outpatient centers located from southern Miami-Dade to Martin counties.
