Pediatric Gastroenterologist
Dr. Firestone Baum is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists, the physician-led multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. She is a pediatric gastroenterologist within the Division of Gastroenterology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Dr. Firestone Baum earned her medical degree from Tel Aviv University Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel. She then completed a residency in pediatrics at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell/Cohen Children’s Medical Center in Queens, New York. Dr. Firestone Baum then pursued a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition at LSU Health Sciences Center/Children’s Hospital of New Orleans in Louisiana. She also holds a Master’s of Public Health from the Boston University School of Public Health in Massachusetts. Her clinical interests include gastrointestinal disorders such as functional abdominal pain and constipation, as well as celiac disease, eosinophilic esophagitis and inflammatory bowel disease.
Dr. Firestone Baum is board certified in both general pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition. She is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and North American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and she has presented at medical conferences.

The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital is dedicated to the treatment of a wide variety of gastrointestinal problems in children and adolescents. The team employs a multidisciplinary approach that brings together an array of specialists to deliver personalized care to the patient and family. The Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Center provides comprehensive support and management for children and young adults with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, while the Gastrointestinal (GI) Center offers nutritional assessment and counseling for overweight children, as well as those with dietary restrictions. Consultations with the division’s board-certified physicians are offered in both English and Spanish at the hospital’s main campus near Coral Gables and Nicklaus Children’s outpatient centers located from southern Miami-Dade to northern Palm Beach Counties.
