Medical Director, Preventive Cardiology Program 
 

Dr. Joanna Lowisz is a fetal and pediatric cardiologist and serves as medical director of the Preventive Cardiology Program within the Heart Institute at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.  In her role as medical director, Dr. Lowisz is responsible for setting the strategy for the Preventive Cardiology Program, as well as overseeing all clinical care, quality metrics, teaching, research and fiscal planning. Dr. Lowisz earned her medical degree from Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Downers Grove, Illinois. She completed a residency in pediatrics at University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville. Dr. Lowisz then pursued a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois. Her clinical interests include preventive cardiology, fetal cardiology and echocardiography.  

Dr. Lowisz is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric cardiology. She is a member of the American Heart Association, American Society of Echocardiography and Fetal Heart Society. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and she has presented at medical conferences. 

Dr. Lowisz is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the multispecialty medical group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. She speaks English and Polish.
