Alexandra Byrne, MD, FAAP
Hospitalist
Dr. Alexandra Byrne is a hospitalist with the Division of Hospital Medicine at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. She earned her medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville and completed her residency in pediatrics at the same institution. She then pursued a fellowship in pediatric hospital medicine at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, where she co-led the Social Drivers of Health Clinical Effectiveness Pathway and participated on the Graduate Medical Education Committee. During fellowship, she also completed the Children’s Hospital Association Health Services Research Academy.
Dr. Byrne is board certified in general pediatrics. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and member of the APP’s Section on Hospital Medicine, Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and Gold Humanism Honor Society. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and she has presented at medical conferences.
Dr. Byrne is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the multispecialty medical group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
The Division of Hospital Medicine oversees the care of children and teens who are hospitalized at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. All of the team’s hospitalists are board certified in pediatrics and hold faculty appointments at Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. The care team serves as a point of contact and collaborates closely with family members, nurses, social workers and other healthcare providers, including the child’s primary care pediatrician.
