Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist 

Dr. Ariella Barhen is a pediatric cardiac intensivist in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. She earned her medical degree from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa. Dr. Barhen completed a residency in pediatrics at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in Queens, New York. She then pursued a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, followed by a fellowship in cardiac intensive care at Texas Children’s Hospital. Her clinical interests include congenital cardiovascular disease, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and cardiopulmonary interactions. 

Dr. Barhen is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine. She is a member of the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society, Society for Pediatric Sedation, Society of Critical Care Medicine, American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed publications and she has presented at different conferences. 

Dr. Barhen is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the multispecialty medical group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System.  .
