Dr. Christopher J. Carafa is a pediatric cardiac intensivist in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. He earned his medical degree from St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies. Dr. Carafa completed a residency in pediatrics at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, New Jersey. He then pursued a fellowship in neonatology at University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa, followed by a fellowship in pediatric intensive care at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. He then furthered his training with a third fellowship in pediatric cardiac intensive care at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. His clinical interests include extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, cardio-renal interactions and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. 
 
Dr. Carafa is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a member of the Florida Medical Association, Society for Critical Care Medicine, Extracorporeal Life Support Organization and Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals 
 
Dr. Carafa is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the multispecialty medical group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System.
