Dr. Marla J. Friedman is a pediatric emergency medicine specialist at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. She earned her medical degree with honors from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Friedman completed a residency in pediatrics at Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper Medical Center in Camden, New Jersey. She then pursued a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. 

 

Dr. Friedman joined Nicklaus Children’s in 2003 and has been an active member of the medical staff. She is the associate medical director for Throughput of the Emergency Department (ED) and is actively involved in the ED Throughput Committee. She serves as chair of the ED Fellowship Clinical Competency Committee and participates on several other hospital committees, including the Residency Clinical Competency Committee and Fellowship Scholarship Oversight Committee. Dr. Friedman is board certified in both general pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and American Academy of Pediatrics’ Section of Emergency Medicine. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and emergency medicine textbooks, and she has presented at medical conferences.
