Dr. Sanchez-Vegas joined Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists, part of Nicklaus Children’s Health System, in 2016. She has served as a physician within the Division of Infectious Diseases at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital since 2009. Dr. Sanchez-Vegas earned her medical degree from the Universidad Central de Venezuela. Her pediatric residency was completed at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. This was followed by fellowship training at Boston University Medical Center (BUMC), where she divided her clinical time between BUMC and Boston’s Children’s Hospital. Dr. Sanchez-Vegas’ primary research focus during her fellowship was on dengue fever, for which she spent eight weeks at the Dengue Branch of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Her work was presented at the 2009 Conference of the International Society of Travel Medicine in Budapest, Hungary. Dr. Sanchez-Vegas’ special interests include international health, travel medicine, refugee health and tropical medicine. She is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases. She is also certified in travel health.
 
Dr. Sanchez-Vegas sees patients at the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital main campus. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
