Veronica Etinger, MD

Dr. Veronica Etinger currently serves as chief of the Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists section of Hospital Medicine, director of the Division of Hospital Medicine at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and assistant professor at Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University. She earned her medical degree with honors from the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. Dr. Etinger completed a residency in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital “Dr. Ricardo Gutiérrez” Buenos Aires in Argentina. She then moved to the U.S. with her family, where she completed a pediatric residency at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and also served as chief resident. Her clinical interests include quality improvement, medical education and evidence-based medicine.
 
Dr. Etinger is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric hospital medicine. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Etinger joined Nicklaus Children’s Health System in 2009 as a pediatric hospitalist and she is active on several of the hospital’s committees, including the hospital’s Clinical Effectiveness Program, Antibiotic Committee and the Fellowship Program’s Scholarly Oversight Committee. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, she has presented at medical conferences and participated in numerous quality-improvement projects.

 
Dr. Etinger is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the physician-led multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
 
The Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine oversees the care of children and teens who are hospitalized at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. All of the team’s hospitalists are board certified in pediatrics and hold faculty appointments at Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. The care team serves as a point of contact and collaborates closely with family members, nurses, social workers and other healthcare providers, including the child’s primary care pediatrician.
