Andrew Kairalla, MD

 

Dr. Andrew Kairalla has been an attending neonatologist at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital since 1991. He graduated with honors from the University of Florida in 1972, and received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina where he was valedictorian of his graduating class. Dr. Kairalla completed a residency in Pediatrics and fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He is board-certified in general pediatrics and in neonatology.

Dr. Kairalla is a past president of the Florida Society of Neonatologists (FSN), and is a member of the Miami-Dade County Fetal and Infant Mortality Review Committee. He is the creator and webmaster of the FSN web site (www.fsneo.org), and publishes a monthly review of current topics in neonatology called NeoNotes. Dr. Kairalla’s primary research interest is in the computer automation of neonatology. He developed a computer software program for physician documentation in neonatology, and other programs for the formulation of safer parenteral nutrition orders and medications for newborn infants.
