Dr. Thomas Utset-Ward is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon focused on pediatric orthopedic oncology with the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Orthopedic, Sports Medicine & Spine Institute. He earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Utset-Ward completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at University of Chicago/UChicago Medicine in Illinois. He pursued a fellowship in musculoskeletal oncology at Ohio State University/Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. Dr. Utset-Ward then furthered his training with a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic oncology at the same institution. He also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management. His clinical interests include pediatric orthopedic oncology, sarcoma, limb salvage and reconstruction, pediatric arthroplasty and general pediatric orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Utset-Ward is a member of the Children’s Oncology Group, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Musculoskeletal Tumor Society, American Association of Latino Orthopedic Surgeons and American Orthopedic Association’s Emerging Leaders Program. He has been published in peer-reviewed journals, written chapters for medical textbooks, presented at medical conferences and serves as a reviewer for orthopedic peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Utset-Ward is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the multispecialty medical group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. He is bilingual in English and Spanish.
