Angiofibroma

What are angiofibromas?

An Angiofibroma is a rare benign tumor (can spread locally) that occurs most frequently in young boys/adolescents, and grows in the nasal cavity (nose).

What causes angiofibroma?

The causes of angiofibroma are unknown.

What are the signs/symptoms of angiofibroma?

Frequent nosebleeds and a stuffy or runny nose are early symptoms.

As the tumor progresses, it can cause bulging of the eye, face swelling, and other facial deformities. If it’s not treated, it can cause damage to surrounding organs such as the ears and eyes.

What are angiofibroma care options?

Surgery to remove the tumor is usually the treatment of choice.

Other treatments include radiotherapy, chemotherapy and hormonal therapy.
