Edwin Cordero, MD

 
Dr. Edwin Cordero is a compassionate and caring Puerto Rican pediatrician dedicated to the practice of Primary Care Pediatrics. He began his pre-meds studies in the University of Puerto Rico and completed his medical degree in Santo Domingo. He trained in Pediatrics at Nicklaus Children's Hospital and has been an American Board of Pediatrics certified pediatrician since 1989, has 20 years of experience, among those 15 in private practice. Dr. Cordero completed training in the treatment of childhood and adolescent obesity offered by the University of California in 1997 and since, he has treated successfully many patients with this condition.

Dr. Cordero is a regular contributor to many community oriented television programs such as Todo Bebe, where he has participated on many segments in infant motor development, the circumcision and care of the infant. On 2004, Dr. Cordero was invited to speak about Childhood Obesity at the health fair event sponsored by the television program Todo Bebe. He als has contributed to the shot Miami Ahora in which he discussed obesity in children and adolescents, De Mañanitas where he talked about Short Stature and in many other television programs of community interest, advocating for the uninsured. Recently he participated at De Mañanas with Maria Antonieta Collines, where he discussed the Childhood Obesity Crisis in the USA especially among minorities. He is a volunteer at Open Door Health Center in Homestead and has been part of multiple boards including Borinquen Health Center, Open Door Health Center, Goodman Psychological Clinic at Carlos Albizu University and was the chairperson of the Puerto Rican Professional Association of South Florida. He has served on hospital committees at Nicklaus Children's and Baptist Hospital and has volunteered as teaching attending.

He is or has been associated with many prestigious institutions in South Florida, such as Nicklaus Children's Hospital, Baptist Hospital, South Miami Hospital, Jackson South Hospital, Kendall Regional Hospital (where he holds active privileges), as well as, Homestead Air Force Hospital, Jackson Memorial Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Cordero has private practices located in both Kendall and Homestead.

His practice has always been distinguished by excellent pediatric primary care with emphasis in customer care and good communication with the patient and his family.
