“Baby Jaslene was born in September of 2008, three months before her due date. She weighed only two pounds. She was very ill and couldn't cry much, but we knew she was a strong little girl. She couldn't breathe or eat on her own, but with care from the NICU, she started to get stronger and more active. We were with her every day in the hospital and the staff was very friendly. They were always happy to explain anything to us if we had questions. Each day was a victory for us, because she showed signs of survival and strength. Now she is a happy four-year-old who is healthy and strong. You wouldn't even know she was born premature by looking at her. We thank the Nicklaus Children's staff for taking good care of Jaslene and treating us like family.”
