About Shifra Koyfman, MD

Dr. Koyfman is a pediatric gastroenterologist within the Division of Gastroenterology and the associate director of the Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Fellowship Program at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. She earned her medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark. Dr. Koyfman completed her pediatric residency at Jacobi Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York; then pursued a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital for Children in Boston.

During her fellowship training at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Koyfman worked on research focused on the enteric nervous system (ENS) in Dr. Allan Goldstein’s Lab. Her clinical interests include obesity, sucrase- isomaltase deficiency, celiac, GERD and protein-induced proctocolitis.
 
Dr. Koyfman is board certified in both general pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology. She is a member of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN) and her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Koyfman is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists, the multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. She speaks English and conversational Hebrew.
