Miami — Miami Children’s Hospital (MCH) Research Institute has been awarded full accreditation from the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs, Inc., (AAHRPP) following an intensive site visit in July. The hospital is the first pediatric facility in the state and one of the few children’s hospitals in the nation to receive this recognition. AAHRPP is a non-profit organization founded in 2001 to ensure research compliance and promote uniform standards for the protection of human subjects.
"Miami Children’s Hospital is committed to excellence in pediatric medical research,” said Raul Herrera, MD, Chief Research Officer of the MCH Research Institute. “Accreditation by AAHRPP demonstrates our leadership and devotion to the highest standards of clinical research.”
MCH President and CEO M. Narendra Kini, MD, MHA, said, “I am proud of the hard work and dedication of our entire Research Institute team in seeking and securing AAHRPP accreditation. This recognition affirms to participating families and research partners that Miami Children’s adheres to the most stringent research standards.”
Miami Children’s Research Institute is one of the largest providers of pediatric medical research in the United States It currently participates in approximately 260 clinical research protocols involving new medications and interventions for children with complex medical needs.
