CRNA Scholarship Program

Purpose:

To support and retain top-tier Nurse Anesthesia students in their final year of training, reducing financial barriers and encouraging commitment to high-need clinical areas in Florida.

Recommended scholarship amount:

  • $15,000 per recipient
    • Rationale: Total cost of FIU CRNA Program Tuition (Inclusive of fees) $93,940.98. Last semester total cost (Inclusive of fees) is $24,120.41. During year three, students often face high clinical demands and reduced ability to work. A $15K award can significantly ease the financial burden without covering the full cost.
    • Sign on bonus offered at Nicklaus can be utilized upfront for last year of CRNA program. Paid in increments per year. ($25,000- initial sign on bonus in first pay check)

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Enrollment Status:
    • Currently enrolled full-time in the third year of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia (DNAP or DNP) program at FIU.
  2. Academic Achievement:
    • Minimum GPA of 3.5 GPA minimum in graduate coursework.
    • Must be in good academic standing with the program director’s approval or recommendation.
  3. Service or Workforce Commitment:
    • Willingness to commit to 1 year of service at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital
      • Scholarship commitment will be in addition to organizational commitment upon hire (3 year commitment)
  4. Financial Need:
    • Demonstrated financial need may be considered, including existing student loan debt and current employment limitations due to clinical demands.
  5. Professional Goals Essay (500–750 words):
    • Statement on commitment to nurse anesthesia, long-term career goals, and how the scholarship will impact educational success.
  6. Recommendations:
    • One academic and one clinical recommendation letter, ideally from a CRNA or program director.

Selection priority recommendations:

  • Must be a Florida resident
  • Demonstrates interest in pediatrics
  • Internal candidates or previous candidates that were in good standing
  • Previous NCHS volunteer
