Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr. Roger Saldana is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon within the Orthopedic Sports Medicine and Spine Institute at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and also serves as physician liaison for the Community-Based Orthopedic Surgery Initiative. He earned his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville. Dr. Saldana completed an internship in general surgery, followed by a residency in orthopedic surgery at Tufts Medical Center and Tufts-affiliated hospitals in Boston. He then pursued a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Shriners/St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. His clinical interests include pediatric sports-related injuries, fractures, limb abnormalities, trauma, as well as general pediatric orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Saldana is board certified in orthopedic surgery. He is a member of the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and he has presented at medical conferences.
Prior to joining Nicklaus Children’s, Dr. Saldana served as Pediatric Orthopedics Medical Director at Baptist Health’s Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute. Nicklaus Children’s and Baptist Health are pleased to collaborate in providing pediatric care excellence via a partnership established during the COVID-19 pandemic. The health systems share a common goal of offering the best care possible to the children and families of the region.
Dr. Saldana is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the physician-led multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System.
As one of the largest and most comprehensive pediatric orthopedic practices in Florida, The Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Orthopedic, Sports Medicine, and Spine Institute skillfully provides state-of-the-art and compassionate care for athletes of all levels. With the assistance of a dedicated support staff, our pediatric orthopedic surgeons perform over 1,400 surgical procedures each year. The department also conducts an additional 32,000 outpatient visits annually, including the management of more than 6,000 fracture cases and is world-renowned for its spinal surgery program.
