Dr. René L. López-Guerrero is a pediatrician and sees patients at the Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists at Allapattah office. After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry at the University of Miami in 1973 and a Master of Business Administration degree at Florida International University in 1977, Dr. López-Guerrero earned his medical degree from Universidad Tecnológica de Santiago in the Dominican Republic. He then completed an internship and residency in pediatrics and adolescent medicine at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital (then Miami Children’s Hospital) graduating second in his class and earning two special recognition awards in neonatology and endocrinology (Dr. Milton Grossman Award). Before entering private practice in 1990, Dr. López-Guerrero spent three years as an attending physician at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine’s Jackson Memorial Hospital, Division of Neonatology. His clinical interests also lie in the fields of nutrition and immunizations, as well as in allergies and asthma control. Dr. López-Guerrero has held several faculty appointments and has won numerous teaching awards for his voluntary involvement with the formation and mentoring of both medical students and residents during a 26-year career as an assistant clinical professor of pediatrics at Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine (1992-2018), University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine (1994-2018) and Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (2013-2018). He is board certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and holds the status of Diplomate. Dr. López-Guerrero is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and member of the American Medical Association. Dr. López-Guerrero is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the physician-led multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System.
